Hurriyat (G) meets at Geelani’s residence to discuss NIA raids

After National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided several separatist leaders and businessmen in Kashmir valley, Hurriyat faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani are meeting to discuss the current situation and the NIA raids. According to the sources, the meeting is currently underway at the residence of octogenarian leader in Hyderpora.

Sources said that the meeting is presided by the chairman of the Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Several members of Geelani led Hurriyat faction were arrested by the NIA during raids on their residential houses last month. Meanwhile, several businessmen were also arrested in the similar raids by the investigating agency.

Seven Hurriyat members were arrested by the NIA during the raids on their residential and office premises.

The seven separatist leaders including Altaf Ahmad Shah Funtoosh Geelani (son-in-law of Syed Ali Geelani), Ayaz Akbar Khandey, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Aftab Hilali Shah alias Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayeem Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate were arrested in connection with the NIA case filed vide No. RC-10/2017/NIA/DLI (J&K Terror Funding Case) under sections 120B, 121, 121 A of IPC and sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39, 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
