Former Minister Sofi Mohi-u-din is no more

The former forest minister Sofi Mohi-u-Din Tuesday morning passed away at SKIMS Soura. He was suffering from multiple ailments for the last several months. He was treated in several hospitals in Delhi and admitted recently to SKIMS Soura where he passed away Tuesday morning.

 Sofi Mohi-u-Din was one of the founding members of Peoples Conference. He fought 2002 assembly elections as an independent candidate and was inducted in PDP-Congress coalition ministry headed by Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the year 2002. He held forest port folio for three years.

 Few years back he had joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was the party’s chief coordinator in Kupwara District.

 His death has been widely condoled by all political, social and cultural organizations of the State.

 Prominent among those who participated in his funeral prayers are Minister for social welfare and science and technology Sajjad Lone, former minister Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, PDP MLC Zafar Manhas, PDP senior leader Nizam-u-Din Bhat, MLA Kupwara Bashir Dar, senior NC leader Sharief-u-Din Shariq. A delegation of Kashmiri pandits led by Advocate Bhushan Lal also visited the bereaved family.
