Minister asks officers to safeguard custodian properties across JK

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Abdul Rehman Veeri today stressed on safeguarding custodian properties in the state.

The Minister said while visiting different custodian properties in the Srinagar. The Minister was accompanied by MLA Batamaloo Noor Muhammad Sheikh, Custodian General J&K Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, Custodian Kashmir and others officers of the Revenue and Custodian department.

The Minister visited Gund Hasibhat, Panzinara, Barthana, Tengpora in the city and sought on spot report about the status of these custodian assets.

The Minister sought details about date of agreement, rent payment status and agreement status from custodian officials and stressed on following the agreements in letter and spirit.

Veeri stressed on the officers to maintain proper inventory of all the assets of the Custodian department and their classification for optimal use.

While highlighting the role of the department, Minister said that the department should not only safeguard its assets properly but should come out with innovative ideas for revenue generation out of these assets. “The land at the prime locations can be used for maximum benefit of the department,” he said.

The Minister stressed on close synergy between Revenue officials and custodian department in securing the custodian assets across state.

Mr Veeri impressed on the officers to turn the department from asset keeper to asset maker.

The Minister also stressed on ensuring transparency and accountability in the functioning of the department.
