Drug peddlers arrested in Sopore, Handwara
Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police Monday arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on a specific information, Sopore police apprehended two drug peddlers, identified as Showkat Ah. Ganai son of Ghulam Ahmad Ganaie and Ab. Qayoom Mir S/o. Gh. Mohammad Mir residents of Ladoora.During Naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing by-pass Sopore, 264 Capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus were recovered from their possession._

In Handwara police arrested an Inter-District Drug peddler with huge consignment Of Charas(Cannabis Sativa) at Chogul.
On a specific input Handwara Police caught Tariq Ahmed Ganai S/O Mohudin Ganai R/O Behrampora Rafiabad.
“Probably this consignment was meant to be sent out of the state also. We are investigating the matter”, said a senior police officer.
SDPO Handwara Shabir Khan said “We were searching for Tariq since we had the inputs that he was the main person who was dealing in drug peddling and getting the youth addicted to drugs in this area of North Kashmir especially school and college students. We are looking for the source of the consignment”.
“Some more arrests are expected in near future and Investigation is in the process,” Khan said.
Meanwhile, an FIR no 254/2017 US 8/20 NDPS Act is lodged at PS Handwara and investigation is set into motion.
