Registration of untrained teachers to be completed by Sept 15: Secy School Education

Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah Saturday directed officials to complete the registration process of untrained teachers by 15 September 2017.

Farooq Shah said this while chairing a meeting to discuss the training of untrained teachers in BEd/ Diploma in Elementary Education in both Government as well as in private schools.

During the meeting, the Secretary said that the diploma in Elementary Education Program is a specifically designed package for in-service untrained teachers aimed to improve quality education through teachers training. He said that it is mandatory to have Diploma in Education for undergraduate teachers and B.Ed for Graduate teachers after new guidelines issued by HRD Ministry.

The program has been developed by the Academic Department, NIOS on the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. Pertinently, MHRD has put a new deadline to complete the training of untrained teachers before April 2019.

Moreover, the Secretary asked the untrained teachers to register themselves on the website of National Institute for Open Schooling before the deadline and pay nominal registration fee to avail the training.

Secretary School Education said that training of teachers won’t affect the class work of students as training program can be availed through  online as well as offline mode besides SSA has nominated nodal officers to facilitate the training.

During the Meeting, Secretary also directed CEO’s and ZEO’s to ensure sanitation drives in schools and promote student volunteerism. He also urged that exchange of activities, talent and expertise between private and govt. schools should take place.

The Meeting was attended by the Director School Education Kashmir G.N.Itoo, Director School Education Jammu, Director RMSA, Director SSA, Principal S.I.E’s of Jammu, Kashmir, Director Distance Education Kashmir University, Regional Directors of MANUU, IGNOU and Members of Private School Association and other concerned officers.
