Members of the civil society Sopore Saturday assembled at the Sub District Hospital in Sopore and held a strong protest against the poor health facility in SDH and Mother and Child Hospital Sopore.

The protest march was lead by a President civil society, Mohammad Akbar Ganaie.

Alleging loss of lives due to insufficient specialized medical facility and infrastructure in both SDH and MCH Sopore, Ganaie demanded that healthcare facilities may be improved in the two health centers.

“It is an irony that nine years after SDH was shifted from its old building to new one. The hospital is devoid of sufficient staff and its ill equipped,” said Mohammad Akbar, a protestor.

He said that the labour room and theatre of MCH hospital has also been shifted to one of the new building at SDH Sopore but the facilities have not improved.

“Many precious lives including new born babies have been lost due to lack of specialized staff, equipments and proper treatment,” the protestors said.

The protesters alleged that a few days back a new born male baby lost his life as he could not get proper treatment during the delivery procedure.
