70 kg poppy straw seized, 2 arrested
Continued the drive against drugs menace, RajouriPolice Sunday recovered 70 kg of Poppy Straw being smuggled from Kashmir to Jammu by two brothers in a Gas Agency vehicle at Lamberi.
“Today morning at about 0530 hrs, a gas tanker of HP Gas Agency bearing registration no NL01N 7007 which was on way from Kashmir to Jammu was stopped by police party on Naka at Lamberi . Upon checking approximately 70kg of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of driver namely Raftar Ahmed s/o Sabar Hussain and cleaner namely Mukhtiyar Ahmad s/o Sabar Hussain both brothers & r/o Ladote Teh and Distt Rajouri which was kept in the cabin of the tanker. ” Police said.
The Poppy Straw according to police was found concealed in four plastic bags being carried from Kashmir.
“Both the persons have been arrested and banned material along with vehicle has been seized.
Consequently, a case FIR No. 138 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowshera and investigation taken up.
The recovery of the banned substance was made by police team led by Incharge Police Post Lamberi Habib Pathan under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera Khaliq Choudhary and SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas.
