Probe our sons killing, says Kakapora family
After a 20 year old youth fell to pellets fired by troops on 13th of August in Kakpora are of Pulwma, his family has demanded a probe to know as to why their kid was killed when no protests were going on in the area.
Mohammad Shafi, father of slain youth says that he still fails to understand why his son was killed.
Pertinently, Owais Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of (Hanji Mohalla) Bongam Kakapora area of Pulwama district was killed on Sunday evening after government forces fired pellet to disperse the stone pelters, who, according to forces were pelting stones on their vehicles.
Farooq Ahmad Dar, a close friend of Owais, who was accompanying him at the time he was shot says that they both offered Magrib prayers at Markazi Jamia Masjid Kakapora.
“After we left the mosque we were heading home however, we saw some army vehicles plying on the roads,” he said.
“I advised Owaise that we should either move back or take another route to our home. However, Owaise said that since we have done nothing wrong we should continue walking till the vehicles move out of our sight. We continued walking however, the as the convoy of vehicles was about to end someone from the vehicles pumped pellets into Owaise from a close range,” he added.
“Soon Owaise fell on the road and became unconscious. We rushed him to primary health center Kakapora for treatement but he was referred to SMHS Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries,” he said.
farooq said that at the time of the incident no stone pelting was going on in the area and no youth had hurled any stone at the vehicles which were passing through the area at the time. Owaise was hit for just walking on the road and this is what has hurt me badly,” said his friend.
Owais, who was just a 20 year old boy, after passing class 12th class told his father that he will ease his burden by starting some small time business.
“He used to run a small shop in Kakapora to earn a livelihood,” says Fayaz Ahmad, relative of Owais.
“Despite being younger than his two sisters and a brother, he was providing necessary support to them” he said.
“My son was a brave heart. he knew my limitations as I am a small time farmer. He told me not to loose hope and arranged for all the money to let his two sisters, Nelofar and Bilquees continue their studies,” said a visibly upset Shafi.
“My elder son Gowhar Shafi is pursuing M tech outside the state, but for him it was possible only due the support provided to him by his younger brother,” he added.
“I was not allowing my son to go outside when there used to be some encounter or any other disturbance in our area. But this time around no encounter or protests were taking place. Still my son was shot at, that too in the chest,” he said.
“I wish that the issue is probed and the culprits are brought to the book,” he said
Meanwhile, Station House Officer Police post Kakapora, Sarjan Ahmad confirmed that an FIR has been lodged into the incident and investigation are going on.
