Blast leaves three CRPF men, cop injured

Suspected militants on Monday hurled a grenade on government forces at Magam area of Budgam district, resulting in injuries to three paramilitary CRPF men and a cop of Jammu and Kashmir police, police sources said.
They said that militants attacked a party of CRPF at Magam this afternoon by hurling the grenade which exploded with a big bang.
Three CRPF and one police personnel sustained splinter injuries in the grenade attack and all of them were removed to the hospital, sources said.
Soon after the attack, large posse of police, Army and CRPF rushed to the spot and launched searches to track down the attackers.
Police sources identified the injured Sub Inspector-Bhoop Singh, Constable Vijay, Constable Riyaz and the cop as Nazir Ahmad.
Meanwhile, militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba claimed responsibility for a grenade attack.
In a statement issued to a local news gathering agency, Lashkar-e-Toiba spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi congratulated the attackers for carrying out the attack despite stringent security arrangements and warned of similar attacks.
He said that LeT men carried out the attack amid heightened security arrangements.
