Two Harkatul Mujahideen militants arrested in Handwara

Police today claimed to have arrested two militants from Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police officer told a local news agency that acting on a specific information about the movement of the suspected persons in the area, a joint team of Handwara Police, 21 RR and 92 bn CRPF during a search operation apprehended two militants in Handwara.

The officer identified the militants as Younis Ahmed Mir, 19 alias Sarfraz, son of Bashir Ahmed Mir of Sabdan Galwan Pura and Tahir -ul-Islam alias Sajad Afghani, 21, son of Bashir Ahmed of Muloor, Tawhedabad, Shaltang,  Srinagar.

Both militants belong Harkatul Mujahideen outfit, the officer said.

He said that a case in this regard has been registered and further investigations were taken up.
