Hizb commander Yasin Itoo killed in Shopian encounter: Police
Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday evening confirmed that one of the three slain militants in Shopian is top Hizb ul Mujahideen commander, Muhammad Yasin Itoo.
“Top HM commander Yasin Itoo @ Ghaznavi among the killed terrorists in Shopian encounter,” DIG of police SKR tweeted.
Itoo, a resident of Nagam Chadoora in Budgam, was famous as Mehmood Gaznavi. He was one of the longest surviving militants in Kashmir.
Three militants and two Indian army men were killed in a gun battle in Awneera village of Shopian which started on Saturday afternoon and ended on Sunday.
Yatoo is a resident of Chadoora in Budgam district and first joined militancy in year 1997 after crossing over to other side of the Line of Control.
Meanwhile authorities have directed telecom authorities to block mobile Internet services in Budgam district.
