21 DC’s, 18 District Police Officers face complaints at CM’s grievance cell

The complaints received against senior officials of the state government and the police are showing an upward trend as 21 Deputy Commissioners (DC) and 18 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) figure in the list against whom the complaints have been lodged at the Chief Ministers Grievance cell.

The departments against whom the complaints have been filed include: Health, PHE, R&B (Jammu and Kashmir) UEED, I&FC, CAPD (Jammu and Srinagar), School Education (Jammu and Srinagar), Kashmir University J&K Bank, SSRB, Cooperative Department, Rural Development Department (Jammu and Srinagar), SKIMS, Div Com (Jammu and Srinagar) Education Department, Finance Department, Forest Department, General Administration Department, Housing and Urban Dev Department, Jammu Development Authority, Jammu Municipality, Srinagar Municipality, Power Development Department, Public Service Commission, Revenue Department, Social Welfare Department.

What is interesting is that the cell has been receiving complaints against the civil administration in various districts in Jammu and Kashmir. There have been total 21 Deputy Commissioners, according to the data, against whom the complaints of varied nature have been filed.

According to the figures provided by the cell there have been total 7104 complaints’ filed against 21 Deputy Commissioners of various districts that include: Anantnag, Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kargil, Kathua, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Kupwara, Leh, Poonch, Pulwama, Rajauri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, Shopian, Sringar and Udhampur.

In the list, district Anantnag is said to be topping the list of complaints with total number of complaints filed is 1057, with Ramban falling at the end of the list with only 41 complaints.

After the civil administration, there has been, as per the data, a plethora of complaints against district police chiefs. There has been total number of 18 police chiefs against whom the complaints—mostly pertaining to law and order—have been filed. The total number of 1170 complaints has been registered so far.

In the list, district Srinagar is said to be topping the list of complaints with total of number of 354 complaints so far, with Kargil and Leh at the end of the with single digit complaints. The long list includes: SSPs of District Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla, Doda, Jammu, Kargil, Kathua, Kupwara, Leh, Poonch, Pulwama, Rajouri, Reasi, Samba, Shopian, Sopore, Srinagar, and Udhampur.

Other departments that are high in terms of complaints received are SSRB (1110 complaints), R&B Kashmir (1379 complaints), PHE Kashmir (1162 complaints), Health Department (1089 complaints), Srinagar Municipality (1182 complaints) and Jammu Municipality (694 complaints)
