Qaimoh shuts to protest Army ‘excesses’
The Qaimoh area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district observed a complete shutdown on Thursday alleging “excesses by troopers”. People raised slogans to decry the high handedness of the troopers, witnesses said.
They said that the residents of Qaimoh alleged that after the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), was called off in the area on Wednesday, the troopers barged into the houses and caused damage to the property.
“The troopers not only beat up the inmates but they also damaged the shops and even looted the stocks piled up in these shops,” a shopkeeper also alleged.
The locals said that protest shutdown is being observed to protest the forces highhandedness as the ‘torture’ and the ‘excess’ are becoming the order of the day.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was being observed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district to mourn the killing of three militants and a young civilian who died during a brief encounter with the troops on Wednesday. The young civilian was killed in troops action to foil a protest in Tral area following the killing of the three militants.
Meanwhile, the militants of Ansar Gazwatul Hind and a civilian who were killed yesterday in a brief encounter with government forces at Gulab Bagh area of Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district were laid to rest at their native villages.
Three militants of Zakir Musa group namely Zahid Ahmad Bhat from Nawdal, Tral, Ishaq Ahmed from Batgund Tral and Muhammad Ashraf Dar from Bag e Trich Pulwama were killed in yesterday’s gunfight.
Soon after the encounter a 16 year old boy identified as Mohammad Younis Sheikh of Saimoh Tral was killed in clashes with government forces.
Ishaq, Ashraf and the civilian Younis were laid to rest at their ancestral graveyards late evening yesterday while as Zahid Ahmad of Batagund Tral was laid to rest today in the morning at his ancestral graveyard.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of slain Ashraf who was laid to rest after multiple funeral prayers amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans at Bag e Trich village of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district.
Ishaq Ahmed was laid to rest yesterday late evening at his ancestral village Batgund of Tral area after multiple funerals amid pro Islam, Pro militant and pro-freedom slogans. Thousands of people participated in his funeral.
Eyewitnesses said that a group of militants appeared in the funeral of Ishaq and offered gun salutes to their, who was active from last two years.
Teenage civilian Younis Sheikh who was killed during clashes near encounter site was laid to rest yesterday late night amid pro-freedom slogans at his ancestral village Saimoh Tral.
Meanwhile, Zahid Ahmad of Nawdal Tral was laid to rest today in the morning at his ancestral graveyard amid pro freedom slogans after multiple funerals prayers that were held since last evening.
Thousands of people including women and children participated in his funeral prayers.
