Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) acting chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar Tuesday expressed serious concerns about GST by saying that the new tax regime is a direct attack on fiscal autonomy of the state.

“GST will take away our fiscal autonomy and will dilute the Special status of JK,” he said while talking to media during a protest march.

“PDP-BJP government is implementing the agenda of RSS as they are hell bent to do away with Article 370 which gives JK a special status,” he added.

“The wound inflicted on the state’s autonomy through extension of GST is still fresh as another new machination has been launched to question the validity of Article 35-A now,” he said.

Police however, detained KEA Farooq Ahmed Dar and others members of the business community after they tried to march towards Civil Secretariat to protest against the proposed abrogation of special status, civilian killings and the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Holding placards and shouting anti-GST slogans, the businessmen and traders assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave to lodge their protest.
