Three militants killed in Sopore gunfight

Three Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) militants have been killed on Saturday in a gunfight with police, army and Central Reserve Police Force, in  Amargadh Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district , police sources said.

The gunfight had started in the area around 4 am after inputs about the presence of militants there.

 Gunshots were heard as the cordon was being laid. As the forces approached towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding inside opened fire, triggering an encounter, police said.

“The militants were killed in Amargarh area of Sopore in an encounter with police, army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” police spokesman Manoj Pandita said here.

 “Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the slain militants. The exact identity of the militants is being established.” he said

“One police constable was injured during the encounter. He was shifted to hospital where doctors have described his condition as stable,” he added.

Meanwhile, authorities have ordered that the class work in colleges and all educational institutions (private and government) of Tehsil Sopore and Khoie area will remain suspended today besides snapping internet services in Baramulla.
