Begumbagh youth’s death leaves a family shattered
Firdous Ahmad Khan’s family is yet to come to terms after he was shot dead by troops on Tuesday morning after protests erupted in Hakripora Village where two LeT militants including, Abu Dujana were holed up inside a house fighting the government forces.
Khan, in his thirties was married few years back who after his untimely death has left behind old aged parents, pregnant wife and a two year old baby girl.
Locals said that Firdous Ahmad Khan (30) son of Muhammad Shaban of Beegumbagh Kakapora was hit by a bullet near the gunfight site as government forces resorted to “indiscriminate” firing to disperse the protesters.
Khan was rushed to district hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead, they said.
However, a police spokesman claimed that Khan was killed in cross firing between militants and the forces.
Shabir Ahmad, a close friend of Firdous said that he was a noble soul who was always willing to help others at all costs.
“Firdous owned a Tata mobile load carrier and was earning his bread and butter by working hard,” said Shabir. “He was a brave and kind hearted person,” he added.
“He was the soul of our family. We are completely shattered. Why doesn’t anyone resolve this Kashmir dispute once and for all? Today, it is my brother, tomorrow it could be someone else’s,” said Imran Ahmad, Firdous’s younger brother.
“How can we console his eight month pregnant wife. What shall we tell Falak Jan, his two year old girl child who has been asking for his ‘Baba’ from the last three days,” retorts Imran, while tears roll down his face.
“Falak, a two year old girl child whom Firdous loved dearly has hardly left her uncle Imran’s lap. She is so terrified that she has not left my company from the last three days after she saw the corpse of her father lying in the compound,” relents Imran.
“Who will take of this innocent baby girl and her mother now. Firdous has left behind an eight month pregnant wife. What shall she do with these two small siblings now,” says Imran.
Imarn, is fifth among the brothers. A driver by profession, Imran is the only person who is not married yet.
“All my four elder brothers including late Firdous are married. Our aged parents too had high hopes pinned on Firdous. Their life too is shattered now,” he says.
Rukshana (26) wife of Firdous is traumatized by the loss of his husband.
“Even though three days have elapsed she has refused to say anything. She is in shock since her husband’s death,” says a relative who has come for the mourning.
