Deadline set for completing academic block of Govt Engineering College
Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today said that the academic block of prestigious Government College of Engineering Safapora will be completed by the end of this year and it will not only benefit hundreds of students but also result in huge socio-economic benefit of the local area.
The Minister was speaking while inspecting the construction work of the college. He was accompanied by MLC Yasir Reshi, Deputy Commissioner Bandiproa and Ganderbal, Chief Engineer R&B and other officials.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction at the pace of work and complimented the officials. He said that the students will be able to study at the beautiful college campus from next year as entire work is going on as per schedule. The Minister directed the executing agency to further expedite the work, so that laboratory block will also be completed in the shortest possible time.
During his visit to Bandipora district the Minister also inspected the widening and upgradation work going on the Srinagar-Bandipora road. The Minister said that by the end of this year the road will be completed upto Safapora and by next year entire stretch upto Bandipara will be completed. The Minister directed the officials to ensure the durabiblity of the road with quality work and expert designing. The Minister was informed that work on protection walls and drains are being completed so that the dangers of soil erosion and water logging is minimized. The Minister also gave directions for undertaking acquisition of land for widening the vital road. The Minister appreciated people who voluntarily donated their land for the road widening.
The Minister said that on the completion of road project the journey from Srinagar to Bandipora will be a akin to a pleasure trip. He said people will love to travel along the banks of mighty Wular lake and alongside mountains.
