Minister visits Parimpora, reviews traffic decongestion measures

Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health, Medical Education and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash  today visited Parimpora Bus Terminal to take first hand appraisal for traffic decongestion measures in the City.

The Minister said that shifting of General Bus Stand from Batamaloo to Parimpora is an important step towards decongestion of the core area of the City.

Naqash directed the concerned officials to provide all facilities to the transporters and asked them to expedite the process of macadamization in and around the terminal.

During her visit, the Minister was informed that 60 buses of Western Bus Service (WBS) plying to various areas in district Budgam have already been shifted to Regional Bus Stand Parimpora.

Similarly, 40 buses of Kashmir Motor Drivers Association (KMDA) which ply to Ganderbal district to areas such as Sonamarg, Gund, and Kangan have also been shifted to Parimpora Bus Terminal.

Chairman, KMDA and other associations urged Ms Naqash for better facilities at the new Bus Stand.

Earlier, the Minister conducted a meeting to review the progress of Hazratbal-Buchpora road widening.

The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, Vice-Chairman LAWDA, besides other concerned officials.

During the meeting, the officials apprised the Minister that they have identified some structures which need to be removed in order to widen the road. Ms Naqash asked the officials to take necessary permissions for the widening of road so that work can begin as soon as possible.

She also directed the officials to begin land acquisition process for the construction of Marriage Hall and widening of Zinda Shah Masjid Road in Rainawari.
