DDC Kupwara conducts public interaction programme

District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today conducted a ‘public contact programme’ (PCP) at Zachaldara, Rajwar, where scores of inhabitants belonging to Rajwar area of Handwara Tehsil participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the reason to hold PCP in the district is to provide governance to people at their doorsteps and enhancing responsiveness of the administrative system. He assured for prompt action to resolve problems faced by the public. On this occasion, the ACD Kupwara was directed to take up various measures including construction of fencing wall in Government Higher Secondary School, Zachaldara, Horticulture Office, Zachaldara, construction of playground at Zachaldara and Sarmarg, and construction of toilet units at prominent places in Zachadara. Besides, instructions were also given to Executive Engineer PHE Handwara to take steps for completion of Upper Rajwar Water Supply Scheme, Lower Rajwar Scheme as also overcoming deficiency in Ahgam, Sarmarg and Hajam Mohalla, Zachadara.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kupwara was also directed to ensure immediate resumption of duties by doctors, paramedics and driver at CHC Zachaldara for mitigating the hardships of the general public.  In addition, necessary instructions for streamlining the functioning of health institutions, schools, and expediting the Aadhar enrolment process were also given.  The DDC was assured that MIS Operation  shall be started  within weeks time from Zachaldara, to facilitate that on line Date Entry of Schemes.

Earlier, number of prominent citizens, representatives of the area, numberdars, chowkidars, ex-sarpanches apprised the DDC with the problems and demands of general public. The major demands were related to water supply, irrigation canals, improvement/upgradation of roads, Aadhar enrolment, non-availability of play grounds, construction of public conveniences, Flood Protection Works, Repairing of Well, renovation of Horticulture office, construction of Administrative Complex, clearance of pending payments under SBM, construction of Fencing Wall in Govt. HSS Zachaldara, functioning of Health Institutions, compensation on account of damage to horticultural produce due to hailstorms, electrification of Dogripora.

Earlier, DDC Kupwara also visited Sohipora for similar programme where public demanded that power network be renovated and irrigation facilities in the shape of bore-wells be provided.

The District Development Commissioner ordered on-spot improvement of HT/LT networking and assured all the necessary  steps shall be taken to resolve the  irrigation issues as well.
