Lodging leadership in Delhi illustrates failure on political turf: Hurriyat (G)
Terming the continuous detention of political leaders and activists as ‘un-democratic, illegal and immoral’, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Saturday demanded their immediate release, saying that these detainees are lodged in far-flung areas of other states and their detention is prolonged on one pretext or the other.
Lashing out at the state administration for ‘unleashing terror and arrest spree’, Hurriyat (G) spokesman according to a statement issued here said that the youth are being arrested against fictitious charges, thus pushing them to wall and hence are left with no option other than to take extreme steps.
Commenting over the recent arrests, the spokesman said that authorities are ‘frustrated’ and these arbitrary arrests and lodging leadership in Delhi clearly illustrates their failure to face us on political turf.
“The state administration has completely surrendered to their masters in Delhi and just for their lust of power is gagging the genuine voices,” the spokesman said.
He said that the resistance leadership won’t budge before this ‘bullying and arbitrary measures’. “We will take every possible step to achieve the right to self-determination and pledged to stand firm and resist against forced occupation,” he said.
Hurriyat Conference (G) said that among those arrested during people’s uprising in 2016, scores are elderly and ailing and still languishing in different jails of state and outside state.
Hurriyat terming the approach of authorities as ‘sheer extremism’, said that infamous PSA is being repeatedly slapped on political activists and Masarat Alam Bhat, Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sufi, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Ameer Hamza Shah, Molana Sarjan Barkati, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Mir Hafeez ullah, Mohammad Yousaf Falahi, Master Ali Muhammad, Raies Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Shaban Dar, Abdul Gani Bhat, Mohammad Rustam Bhat, Danish Malik, Mushtaq Ahmed Hura, Abdul Ahad Para, Mohammad Rafiq Ganai, Abdul Subhan Wani, Shakeel Ahmed Yatoo, Showkat Ahmad Hakim, Tariq Ahmed Ganai, Bashir Ahmed Boya, Ab Majid Rather, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat , Shakeel Ahmad Bath ,Farooq Ah Tawheedi, Haji Ghulam Muhammad Mir, Sheikh Mohammad Ramzan, Showkat Ahmad, Muhammad Amin Ahangar, Abdul Hameed Parey, Mohammad Shafi Wagey, Mushtaq Ahmed Khandey, Showkat Ahmed, Mohammad Shafi Khan, Assad Ullah Bhat, Salman Yousuf, Mufti Abdul Ahad, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Hakim u Rehman, Mansoor Ahmed Kaloo, Ghulam Mohammad Tantrey, Pervez Ahmed Kaloo, Abdul Khaleq Regu, Abdul Aziz Ganai, Ghulam Hassan Malik, Javed Ahmed Mir, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, Muhammad Ashraf Beig, Mohammad Ramzan Mir, Siraj Uddin, Mohammad Sidiq, Safeer Ahmed Lone, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Saleh, Ejaz Ahmad Hura, Javed Ahmed Fuley, Nazir Ahmad Mantoo, Mufti Nadeem, Mohammad Amin Parey, Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Imtiaz Ahmed, Bashir Ahmad Sofi ,Meraj u Din Nanda and hundreds others since long are languishing in different jails.
The spokesman said that life prisoners including Dr Mohammad Qassim Faktoo, Dr Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Bhat and fifty others have been awarded life sentence and hence languishing in different jails.
Hurriyat (G) said that during people’s uprising in 2016, more than twenty thousand pro-freedom people and activists were arrested and more than five hundred are still detained either in interrogation centers or in different jails.
“In most of cases the detainees were bailed out and their dossiers were quashed by judiciary, however authorities instead of honoring court orders are ignoring all norms and rules, hence detainees are not released and slapped with PSA to prolong their detention,” the spokesman said, adding that against many detainees no charge sheet has been filed, yet they continue to be imprisoned.
Hurriyat Conference (G) while commenting over the recent arrests made by NIA, said that Altaf Ahmad Shah, Pir Saif ullah, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Raja Meraj Ud din were shifted to Delhi and are being subjected to extreme mental torture.
In an appeal to ICRC, Amnesty International and international organization for human rights, Hurriyat Conference impressed them to take cognizance of these unwarranted arrests and use its influence for seeking the immediate release of all detainees.
