Member Parliament and former J&K Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday claimed that the incumbent Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was “hand-in-glove with Hurriyat.”

As reported by a section of National media, Abdullah said People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won because of Hurriyat support during elections.

“Their stronghold lies in South Kashmir. There lies the answer. Ask the government to probe this,” Abdullah said according to India Today report.

Dr Abdullah said CM Mehbooba was hand-in-glove with Hurriyat.

“One of her ministers writes the statements that (separatist leader Syed Ali Shah) Geelani issues,” Abdullah said.

Abdullah said it was no surprise that reports suggested that the Jammu & Kashmir Police stalled the movement of arrested separatist leaders from Srinagar to Delhi on Monday evening.

“You should hold the government of Kashmir and the Chief Minister responsible for this. The BJP should break up with them,” said Abdullah.

Interestingly on Tuesday, Farooq Abdullah congratulated the National Investigation Agency (NIA) over its probe into the funding of Hurriyat leaders and asked them  to investigate whether or not they received Indian funding as well.

“I congratulate NIA for its probe on funding of Hurriyat leaders. From where the money has came and how it is been utilised we will get to know that soon. One fact should also be investigated if Indian Government funded Hurriyat or not.”

Seven separatist leaders, including the son-in-law of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and a close aide of Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were arrested by the NIA yesterday.

The seven leaders arrested are Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehraj Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayeem Khan and Bitta Karate.

The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
