‘Terror Funding’: Shabir Shar arrested

Senior separatist leader Shabir Shah was on Wednesday flown to Delhi  following his arrest by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials here on Tuesday night.

A top police official said ED officials executed a non-bailable warrant issued against Shah, issued by a Delhi court.

“Shah was shifted from his uptown Sant Nagar residence to Humhama police station in Budgam district on Tuesday evening,” he said.

Sources said Shah was to reach Delhi on Wednesday morning.

“The arrest followed disclosures by hawala dealer Muhammad Aslam Wani, who has admitted having passed on hawala money worth Rs 2.25 crore to Shah,” sources said.

Pertinently, seven separatist leaders who were arrested on Monday by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), were produced before the designate NIA court in Delhi on Tuesday.

The court remanded the accused to NIA custody for 10 days for custodial interrogation in connection with a funding case being investigated by the agency.

Last night, a spokesperson of Democratic Freedom Party said a police party from Police Station Sadder came to Shah’s Sanat Nagar residence where he was under house arrest and told him to accompany them for one hour.

After enquiring, the spokesperson said, they got to know that Shah has been taken to Humhama guest house

Meanwhile, a court in New Delhi today sent Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Shah (arrested on charges of money laundering), to seven days custody with the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Reports said that Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma allowed the agency to quiz Shah for a week.

Already the court has remanded seven separatist leaders, arrested for money laundering in NIA custody for 10 days for interrogation over allegations that they got funds to sponsor subversive activities in the Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, top sources hinted that NIA was mulling to detained hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq ane JKLF Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik.

“NIA is vigorously investigating supply of hawala money in Kashmir. They may detain all these separatist leader for questioning as well. Right now they have flown other separatist leaders to Delhi for questioning,” a top official in police Department said.
