People in South Kashmir’s Tral area are facing tough times as construction work on Tral Awantipora road is going on with snail’s pace.

Tral Dadsara road is an important road as it connects Tral town with the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and rest of the state, locals said.

“Since the road link is vital for the development of the entire area, we have been demanding its upkeep and maintenance, but to no avail,” Abdul Rasheed, a local resident said.

He said that 11 Crore were sanctioned for widening and macdamisation of  the road last year but even after the July month is coming to an end, the road had seen mecdamisation of just 4 Kilometers of its length.

The locals allege that the road is in shambles at various places like Dadasara, Noorpora, Amirabad, Hurdumir and Sangrama.

“Although work to repair the road is on but the speed is very slow,” they complained.

Locals allege that they brought the matter into the notice of higher ups so many times but all in vain.

Residents have requested the Minister for R&B to look into the issue and get the civil works executed for constructing the road at an earliest.
