Seven gamblers held

Police has arrested seven gamblers and recovered stake money over fourteen thousand from three gambling places in Srinagar today, a police spokesman said.

He said that a police party of Police Station Khanyar raided a gambling place and arrested three people while gambling. They were identified as Muzafar Ahmad, Mohammad Iqbal Khan and Ashiq Hussain.

The spokesman said that stake money of Rupees 3100 was recovered from the gambling site.

Meanwhile, a Police party of police station Nigeen raided a gambling place and arrested two gamblers. They were identified as  Fazil Ahmad Khan and Gowhar Ahmad Bhat. Stake money of Rupees 1200 was recovered from the gambling site.

In another raid, a police party of Police station Safakadal apprehended two gamblers near Pinchimandi in an open public place. The spokesman said that stake money of Rupees 14000 was recovered from the gambling place. Three separate cases have been registered against these gamblers and further investigation is on, the spokesman added.
