Separatists fume over issuing of notices by NIA

Huriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday expressed serious concern upon the arbitrary notices being sent to religious institutions in Kashmir by the NIA.

Chairing a meeting of the members of various organizations at his Nigeen residence, Mirwaiz expressed resentment and anguish at the frequent questioning of some members and representatives of these institutions by the sleuths of NIA at their makeshift office at Humhama.

“Many organizations have been asked to submit records and other documents to NIA officials,” Mirwaiz told the meeting.

The members present condemned targeting and persecution of Jamia Masjid and Nusrat-ul-Islam like institutions that have been working since long time for religious, social and educational uplift meant of the people of Kashmir.

Members of both the institutions reiterated that the Auqaf is a purely religious institutions looking into the affairs of Jamia Masjid while Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul-Islam is a one oldest and most renowned educational institution of Kashmir, serving the people for more than 100 years.

“And it is because of the huge contribution of this institution, Kashmir saw many talented doctors, engineers, social activists, bureaucrats scholars and even politicians earning a name for themselves and the state.”

“Even the father of Chief Minister of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti, late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was a pass out of the same institution,” the statement added.

The members said that it is obvious that the aim behind summoning the representatives of these institutions to harass them as also the family members of Mirwaiz family is to build pressure on the APHC chairman to stop advocating and suppress the people’s political aspirations and their just struggle.

However, such vengeful ploys won’t deter the resolve of Mirwaiz, who has and will continue to talk about Kashmir issue and its resolution as per people’s aspirations.

The members decided that legal council will be sought in dealing with the notices.
