Bear kills elderly woman, injures her daughter-in-law in Kulgam
A ferocious bear on Monday attacked an elderly woman and her daughter-in-law, killing one of them on spot while another is in a critical condition in Ladgov village of South Kashmir Kulgam district.
The deceased lady has been identified as Fatima Begum (75) and her daughter-in-law Shaheena Bano (29). Both had gone to the nearby orchard when the bear attacked them. The bear mauled the elderly woman killing her on spot while Shaheena Bano was critically injured in the attack.
Shaheena was taken to District Hospital Kulgam in a critical condition.
Locals accused Wild Life Department of negligence and said that despite informing about the movement of wild animals in the area, the Department doesn’t take cognizance.
