Migration to GST regime workshop held

The district administration Ramban organized awareness cum interactive session on Goods and Services Tax under the theme “Migration into GST regime” here today.

The programme was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADC) Ramban, Ravinder Nath Sadhu.

While interacting with stakeholders, the ADDC said that the aim was to know the apprehensions, doubts and genuine problems of business fraternity with the implementation of GST in the state.

Project officer, ICDS Ashok Pandita who is also the Nodal Officer, exhorted upon the contractors, shopkeepers and other traders to go for GST registration for smooth conduct of business. He said, “District administration in coordination with state commercial taxes and excise department will organize series of orientation programmes on GST Act to acquaint all stakeholders with its provisions.”

 The contractors and traders also highlighted their issues and raised queries related to the procedure for switching over to new regime.  The Nodal officer assured that all their issues would be taken up with concerned authorities.

 Earlier in the meeting, Commercial Tax Officer Gayas-ul-Haq threw light on various provisions incorporated in the GST Act. He also replied to the queries of businessmen and traders and briefed them about the new provision made under different disciplines of business transactions.

 Resource person, Shrawan Kumar, Inspector Commercial Taxes and master trainer GST briefed the participants about new GST model, it’s rules and regulations, impact on tax structures, registration, including migration into new GST regime rolled out in the state from July 8, 2017.

It was further informed that the registration of DDO’s involved in purchasing and deduction of taxes for works contract and other similar activities shall start from 25th of July 2017 on GST portal.
