Army soldiers assault cops in Ganderbal, injure many

Six policemen were injured including an ASI with a head injury after soldiers beat them in Police station Gund Ganderbal, reports said on Saturday.

The incident took place late last evening after policemen tried to stop soldiers in civvies who were returning from Amarnath yatra.

“The incident occurred after army soldiers in civvies were not allowed to move ahead during night hours,’’ SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Lone said.

“Army soldiers came and ransacked the police station. Some of the policemen are injured,” he added.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the group of army personnel for vandalizing the Gund police station.

A case FIR No. 18/2017 under section 147,148, 307, 323, 332, 353, 452, and 102 has been registered against the army personnel at Police Station Gund and investigations have been taken up, police said.
