Shutdown against civilian killing affects life in Kashmir
Normal life was hit in Kashmir valley due to a shutdown called by the resistance leadership against the recent civilian killings in forces’ action.
All shops and other business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads in Srinagar – region’s main city.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a shutdown and a peaceful sit-in outside the UN office in Sonwar today.
The sit-in would be organized to register protest and deep resentment against all killings of Kashmiris, especially the systematic genocide of our youth by the state forces and their persecution and illegal detention, said the JRL.
Similar reports of shutdown were also received from other district headquarters of the valley.
Pertinently, the authorities today, imposed restrictions in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of eight Police Stations including Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, Maharaj Gunj, Safakadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud and Ram Munshi Bagh on Friday (Jul 21) as precautionary measure.
