Tral Flash floods: DDC distributes relief to affected families

Pulwama: A day after the flash floods hit Nagbal village of Tral, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama on Wednesday visited the area and took stock of the damage caused yesterday.

The DDC was accompanied by MLA Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Awantipora, SDM Tral, Tehsildar Tral, SHO Tral and other officers from the district administration.

The DDC Pulwama took stock of the damage caused by the yesterday’s flash floods. The locals apprised him about the large-scale devastation caused due to flash floods in the area.

Incessant rains in the area have caused flash floods tormenting people in several villages and resulting in damage to many residential houses,  animal houses, crops and vegetables.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC said that every possible measure will be taken to compensate the losses.

He distributed a cash amount of Rs 1 lac among the families which suffered huge losses.

Further utensils, blankets, solar lights etc were distributed among them as first hand assistance.

DDC Pulwama directed the SDM and Tehsildar Tral to take all necessary restoration and rehabilitation measures as well as ensure the safety and security of the people affected by the flash floods.

He also issued directions to the officials to immediately carry out assessment of damages caused due to flash floods so that a comprehensive financial assistance will be provided to the affected families.
