Flash floods hit Kishtwar village, two dead

A woman and her grandson were killed after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in Chichi area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.

The duo was grazing their animals at Hydal Mill when flash floods hit the area.

The body of 50-year-old Kunji Devi has been recovered while an operation was on to retrieve the remains of her five-year-old grandson, an official said.

Earlier three women were killed after a cloudburst struck Thatri town of district Doda of Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night of July 19- 20 , 2017.

A number of residential houses, shops, a school and several vehicles were washed away in flash floods which inundated vast areas along Batote-Kishtwar highway.
