Pulwama: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has failed to check mass copying in bi-annual Class X examinations in Pulwama district.

Eyewitnesses said that the students at centre number 6102 and 6104, set up at Mehjoor Memorial Boys Higher Secondary School (MMHS) Pulwama, were found indulging in mass copying.

The students, who were writing their examination papers, leaked the questions papers to their aides, who had assembled outside the examination centres in good numbers.

“Their aides, who had assembled near the examination centres, gave them answers for questions put up in the examination papers,” the eye witnesses said, adding that the material was then shared by students among themselves.

The eyewitnesses said that the aides, mostly males climbed the walls of the examination centres and threw ready answers into the examination centres through the windows.

They said, “Though the aides were getting occasional taunts by the on duty examiners, but that didn’t stop them from helping their acquaintances in copying.”

When the issue of mass copying was brought into the notice of assistant secretary JKBOSE, Pulwama, Javid Ahmad, he feigned ignorance about the matter.

“We didn’t receive any complaint in this matter, “he said. On being asked whether they supervise these examinations he replied, “We have no powers. The examinations are supervised by JKBOSE, Srinagar.”

Meanwhile, the Inspector Examinations and Principal MMHS, Ghulam Mohudin, have refuted the allegations of mass copying as baseless.

“The allegations are baseless and the examinations went smoothly,” he said. In fact, he said that if anybody has any evidence they should bring it to our notice.

The Vice Principal of MMHS, Abdul Gani, also negated these allegations.  “The examinations are going on under strict supervision and there is no question of allowing any one to copy,” he said.
