Police busts HM module, foils militant recruitment bid
Police have busted a network of over ground workers (OGWs) innvolved in many militant related incident in South Kashmir while it has also uncovered a module in Barnmulla which was planning to send youth for weapons trainig to Pakistan.
According to officials pursuing the investigation of case FIR number 138/2017 under section 307 of RPC, 7/27 arms act and 16 ULA (P) one SPO Khurshid Ahmed was killed at Imamsahab on 11 of June. The module of four four people who were innvolved in providing logistic support and participation in the furthering the said criminal act.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the said attack was carried out by HM outfit based in Shopian. “One Nazim Nazir Dar on the direction of other HM militants namely Saddam Padder and Irfan Abdullah Ganie, both residents of Heff carried the attack,’’ said police.
In the killing of SPO four over ground workers (OGWs), who had provided logistic support to the militant group, and were identified as Amir Mohidin resident of Heff, working as an employee at a bank in Chitragam, constable Towseef Ahmad of Chakoora, Basharat Yusuf Mir resident of Litter, working as private teacher and Iftikar Rather alias Jamshed resident of Awneera, were arrested.
After sustained questioning they were arrested and are being investigated for their roles. “ Investigation so far conducted has revealed their complicity in entering into criminal conspiracy for carrying future attacks at the behest of this group for targeting some more policemen and civilians. Further, news item published in a news paper published from Srinagar and circulated on social media related to involvement of Towseef Ahmed in Amarnath vehicle attack incident on 10 July 2017 is not correct and media is requested not to carry speculative and factually incorrect stories,’’ police said.
Baramulla police have also busted a module of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit who were active in the area to lure young boys into militancy. “This module was being spearheaded by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Parvez Wani alias Mubashir resident of Gagloora Handwara,’’ police said.
They were identified as Ansar-ul-lah Tantray son of Mohammad Munawar Tantary resident of Raipora, Palhalan, Abdul Rashid Bhat son of Sona-ul-lah Bhat resident of Minipora, Sopore and Mehraj-ud-din Kak son of Nazir Ahmad Kak resident of Andargami, Pattan. Police said that the module had plans to send many boys to Pakistan on valid visa to get them trained in camps of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). One of the accused Abdul Rashid Bhat had visited Pakistan in the month of May this year and obtained training for undertaking militant activities in KHALID BIN WALEED camp of HM located in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He had got the visa from Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi on the recommendation of one separatist organization. Arms, ammunition and Rs 1 lakh Indian currency notes were recovered from their possession.
The module was not only luring young boys to militancy “but was providing all logistic support to other HM outfit.’’
In a recent incident Baramulla Police saved around 10 boys meant to be inducted in militant ranks and handed them over to parents.
A case FIR number 112/2017 under sections of 13 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act has been registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been taken up.
