Geelani grieved over Amarnath accident

Senior separatist leader and Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Sunday expressed his deep sorrow over a tragic road accident in Banihal which led to the killing of 16 Amarnath pilgrims who were on way to Srinagar from Jammu in this afternoon.

The accident, according to the reports, occurred when a bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Banihal today.

In a statement issued here, Geelani expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and prayed for their patience to bear this irreparable loss.

Hurriyat (G) chairman also prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.

While terming the road accident as unfortunate, Geelani prayed for the early recovery of the injured pilgrims.

Geelani also said that the rising accidents in Jammu and Kashmir are a matter of grave concern.
