16 schools closed down in Rajouri along LoC

As a precautionary measure district administration in Rajouri has ordered the closure of 16 educational institutes in the area along LoC.  Heavy mortar shelling was reported in forward areas of Tehsil Manjakote in Rajouri at 830Hrs.

“District Administration ordered the closure of all schools early morning however 120 students were held up in Govt School at Panjgrain. The district officials and the teaching staff coordinated well to safely evacuate the students from the affected area,” a statement from the district administration Rajouri said.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary accompanied by SSP Yougal Manhas, ACD Noor Alam, AC Defence Abdul Qayoom, CEO Lal Hussain and other senior officers rushed to forward areas to oversee arrangements for likely evacuation and emergency response.

Meanwhile, a soldier hailing from Tral area of south Kashmir along with a five-year-old child were killed when Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged heavy firing in Poonch sector of LoC.

Two civilians were injured during shelling in Rajouri sector of LoC. One seriously injured Shah Begum W/O Mohd Sharief R/O Panjgrain was admitted in district hospital while other injured Sharief Ahmed was given first aid by the local hospital.
