The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Saturday said though the concern expressed by the UN over Kashmir is “satisfactory” but it should take practical steps to resolve the issue.

Shah said, “The UN and the world community have been witnessing the grave situation and human rights violations in Kashmir for the last so many years. There is a dire need to find a permanent solution to this issue.

“UN should find out who is creating impediments in resolving Kashmir issue. This issue is the root cause of continuous flare-ups between India and Pakistan at the Line of Control (LoC).”

The DFP chairman appealed to the UN Secretary General and its permanent members to devise a strategy for the resolution of Kashmir issue as countries like US and China have expressed concern over it.

Shah asked the people of the country to think why New Delhi, despite utilising all its state machinery hasn’t succeeded in resolving the issue.
