Two of the three militants of Tral encounter identified: Police

Two of the three militants who were killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Satoora forest area of  Tral, Awantipora have been identified, police said.

”They have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Lone alias Gazi Umer son of  Mohammad Akram resident of Amirabad Tral, Parvaiz Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Qadir Mir resident of Pahoo Pulwama and a foreign militant, ” police statement issued here said.

As per the police statement they were involved in a number of anti national activities.

Mukhtar Ahmad Lone was involved in many grenade attacks on CRPF and Police. He was involved in the attacks on CRPF Bn Headquarters at Tral Bala in which two CRPF personnel were injured, CRPF camp at Lariyal Tral in which 10 CRPF personnel were injured, Army camp at Panzoo Tral and Police Post Aripal in which one CRPF person got injured.   He was also involved in many firing incidents including at Panzoo Tral on Army camp ” police said adding that Parvaiz Ahmad Mir along with four other persons was involved in the murder of one person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Kuchay son of Ghulam Mohammad Kuchay resident of Rakh Lajoora in the year 2010.

He was under the judicial lockup in the instant case. During the trial Hon’ble court has released him in March 2017 and afterwards he joined the militant ranks.

As has been reported earlier that, acting on a specific information, Awantipora police along with 42 RR and 180 Bn CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Batiwan forest area of Satoora, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tral, Awantipora, yesterday. During the search operation hiding militants fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated, ensuing an encounter. Three militants were killed in the encounter.

Three AK rifles and other ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.
