Teej celebrations begin at Aryans Group of Colleges

Celebrations for the festival of Teej began at the campus of Aryans Group of Colleges in Chandigarh in a traditional fervour.

Girl students and staff danced to the tunes of traditional Punjabi music. The girls recited ‘Bolian’ (verses from folk music) and performed ‘Giddha’ to welcome ‘savan’, the month of rain, with which the festival is associated.

The girls wore traditional and colourful dresses and broke into dance on the beats of dhol. There was modern music plus the recent Punjabi pop songs. All this added to the flavour of celebrations.

Director, Aryans Group, Raman Rani Gupta appreciated the efforts of the girls and said the festival of Teej was a symbol of our cultural heritage. She said the celebration of all such festivals and functions not only provide joy, but were also a way of reviving and keeping alive the traditions and customs.

Registrar, Aryans Group, Sukhaman Batch said that the festival reminded everyone of the happy times in life. She said that the festival was traditionally celebrated in Punjab during the month of rain.
