JK Governor NN Vohra visits Amarnath Yatra bus accident site

Governor N. N Vohra today visited the Amarnath yatra bus accident site to take stock of the rescue operations.

Sixteen people were killed and 35 others injured when  a bus with registration No. JK02Y-0594, carrying Amarnath pilgrims met with an accident on Jammu -Srinagar highway when it rolled down into a gorge near Army Camp, Nachilana Banihal.

According to witnesses rear tyre burst caused the accident.

A rescue team has been rushed to the spot and the injured are being shifted to the local hospital.

Earlier Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh also spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti regarding the unfortunate accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep regret over the tragic incident.

“Extremely pained by the loss of lives of Amarnath Yatris due to a bus accident in J&K. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased”. He tweeted.
