Activists of a local NGO Saturday staged protest against the attack in Anantnag district, which left seven Amarnath pilgrims dead and many others injured.

The activists of ‘Caring Foundation’, a local NGO assembled at Press Enclave in Srinagar and condemned the attack on yatris.

They said that the Amarnath pilgrims who annually visit Kashmir to perform their religious duties are guests of Kashmiris.

“We condemn the killings of seven pilgrims. We want that the government must conduct judicial probe into the incident so that the culprits involved in the crime should be dealt with strictly according to the law,” they said.

They said that the people of Kashmir who either took to streets or took to social networking sites to condemn the attack clearly indicated that the people of Kashmir are against the innocent killings.

“The innocent people who have been killed committed no fault. Innocent killings are unacceptable to the people of Kashmir,” they said.

Pertinently, various trade bodies including the civil society group and people from all walks of life in Kashmir condemned the attack on Amarnath pilgrims, which was also hailed by the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti.
