District administration initiates measures for fast track execution of road works: DC

District Administration, in coordination with executing agencies has initiated measures for fast tracking execution of improvement works on various roads and construction of new roads for decongestion.

District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary in a series of meetings today elaborated the measures initiated for long pending public demands related to roads. Commander BRTF Mr U N Singh, Commanding Officer 57 RCC Mr Parkash Varshney and Executive Engineer Neeraj Kumar informed that BRO has expedited works on all the issues projected by District Administration during last two months and clearances have been obtained from headquarters for these works.

DDC was assured that resurfacing of last 7KM Rajouri-Thanamandi road will be started immediately after monsoon and completed by October 2017 which will be a major relief for the commuters. The need for tunnel between Thanamandi to Bafliaz was also discussed for which BRTF headquarter has been requested to initiate the feasibility and DPR.

Meanwhile, District Administration has also proposed to take over city roads within Municipal limits and hand over same to PWD for maintenance in view of frequent interventions required. A proposal has been moved in this regard.

A large number of encroachments on Rajouri-Thanamandi road to be removed before start of resurfacing were also discussed for which joint teams of BRO, Police, Traffic, Revenue and Executive Magistrates concerned would initiate the work. Administration has already appealed general public for removal of encroachments to avoid initiation of criminal proceedings.

It was informed that Panja Chowk crossing will be converted into rotary for circular single lane traffic to avoid traffic jams.

Earlier, the DDC accompanied by Executive Engineer PWD , CMO Tehsildar and officers of Agriculture department inspected the alternate road from District Hospital to Abdullah Bridge.

 It was decided that an alternate road bypassing the hospital roads will be constructed and a rotary at the confluence of these roads to avoid accidents. The alternate road will pass through boundary of agriculture land delinking hospital for which separate entry and exit points will be constructed.

Nearly, 80 Kanal land has also been finalized to be retrieved from encroachers within Municipal limits and put to public use.
