Two army men killed by Pak forces in LoC attack
Two army men have been shot dead in the firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) by the Pakistan troopers in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Wednesday.
An official said that two soldiers of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles were killed in sniper fire from Pakistan in Furkiya area of Chowkibal today. The deceased were identified as Lance Naik L N Ranjit Singh and Rifleman Satish Bhagat, said the official.
The incident is the latest one that marks an escalation in the tensions between Indian and Pakistani troopers along the border. The armed force personnel had on Monday, foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of north Kashmir, killing three militants.
“Suspicious movement was noticed along the LoC in Naugam sector last night and the terrorists were tracked till dawn, when they were challenged by troops,” an army official said.
Earlier Pakistan claimed that two teenagers were killed while a civilian was injured as Indian troops resorted to heavy firing along the border.

The firing along the borders has continued unabated amid the escalation in the infiltration attempts from across the border. Border Security Force (BSF) personnel said that the Pakistani rangers earlier carried out indiscriminate firing on Indian positions on the international border in Samba district.
The firing along the border has continued even as the increasing number of militants are trying to sneak into the Indian side. Six militants were earlier killed after Army foiled an infiltration bid at Uri as they were trying to sneak into this side.
The Army has stepped up the vigil and the combing operations. Indian Army launched a punitive strike on 9 May and destroyed two Pakistan army bunkers across the LoC. On 23 May, the army also released a video of the military action that showed heavy artillery destroying bunkers and shelters. Since then the incidents of cross border skirmishes have only intensified.
