Six family members arrested after attack on Yatris

Hours after the  attack on Amarnath yatra pilgrims in South Kashmir, government forces raided a house and arrested six members of a family from Botengoo village of Anantnag district.

A police official said that a couple of people have been detained for questioning.

According to women members of the family, the raid was conducted when they were sleeping. The government forces ransacked the house and dragged the male members out from their bed and whisked them away to some unknown destination, reports suggested.

Those detained have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Laway, Showkat Ahmad Laway, Amir Amin and Asif Amin. The fifth youth has been identified as Jaffer Ahmad Khan, a student of Army Public School Khanabal.

Meanwhile the locals of Batengoo have accused forces of resorting to highhandedness at the spot of attack. “Soon after the attack army and police barged into a residential house of Mushtaq Ahmad Laway, beat the inmates including womenfolk and looted the cash of Rs 30000 from his house,” a local said.

The house is very close to the spot where the incident happened leaving seven yatris dead and more than 18 injured. As per IG police, LeT is behind the attack and said Ismail a Pakistani militant is the mastermind behind the attack.

However, LeT has condemned the attack and said their men are not behind the attack. No militant outfit has taken the responsibility of the attack
