DIC organizes seminar during Health Mela

Series of events were held across the district here today to mark the ‘World Population Day’ under the theme ‘Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations’ and with a slogan ‘Nayi Lehar, Naya Vishwas Sampooran Zimedari Se Parivaar Vikas’.  

On the occasion a Health Mela was also organized by District Health Society Ramban in collaboration with District Information Centre (DIC) at Community Hall Maitra, here today.

MLA, Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh was the chief guest on the occasion.

Besides CMO, Dr.  Saif-ud –Din Khan, Medical Superintendent, Dr.  D V Singh, Dy CMO, Dr. Mohammed Iqbal Bhat, District Health Officer, BMOs of various blocks, Multi Health Workers, ASHAs and Anganwari workers were present on the occasion.

MLA, Ramban paid tributes to the tourists killed in a militant attack near Botengo, Anantnag last night and he alongwith participants offered two minutes silence for the peace of departed souls. 

Meanwhile, a seminar was also organized by the DIC Ramban on World Population Day in which college students, youth and officers of Health department participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stated that World Population Day is observed to create awareness on the issue of rising population in the world. He said that the day provides an opportunity to create awareness about issues related to increasing population and the impact it has on the development and environment.

MLA said that the family planning was the need of the hour as the increasing population has created hurdles in the progress and development of the country. He advised to organize maximum awareness camps in the far flung areas to educate the people regarding the healthcare and their role in controlling the increasing population of the country.

The Chief Medical Officer, while speaking on the occasion, said that different activities have been designed to generate awareness among the general masses about the subject. He also informed that different awareness, non-surgical vasectomy (NSV) camps and door to door fortnightly campaign is being organized to sensitize the common masses about the impact of increasing population.

Later certificates and prizes were also distributed among the participants.
