DC Poonch reviews evacuation, rehabilitation plan for shelling victims

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahamed Zargar, today convened a meeting to review and assess the preparedness of evacuation and rehabilitation plans in view of escalation in shelling on Line of Control in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner sought action plans from concerned Departments to face any eventuality and seek prompt response from the concerned Departments for the safety of the people.

While reviewing preparedness measures, the DC stressed for collaborative efforts and synergy between police and civil administration so that available resources can be channelized in an optimum way.

He also called for holding awareness and mock drills for better preparedness to evacuee the people and handling the situations more effectively in case of any emergency like situations.

The DC was apprised that a comprehensive plan for evacuation and rehabilitation have been already put in place, where in safe rehabilitation sites and buildings have also been identified in Balakote, Mendhar , Mandi and Haveli areas.

The meeting discussed in detail issues of intake capacity in camps besides provision for making the availability of water, electricity, LPG and ration at the camps site was also discussed.

It was said that a control room at the district level and sub control room at other places shall be set up which will function round the clock.

Among others, ADC, SE Hydraulic Rajouri-Poonch Range, CMO, Superintendent District Hospital Poonch, AEEs of PHE, PDD besides officers of Police & FCS&CA Departments were present in the meeting.
