Congress terms attack as shameful

State Congress President G. A. Mir strongly condemns “assassination of yatris’’ and described the attack as “dastardly and  shameful.’’

Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the deadly attack  on a  convoy in which seven yatris were killed, Mir has strongly condemned the attack and described it as shocking, dastardly and highly shameful. Mir offered deepest condolences to bereaved families and sympathized with them. He also expressed solidarity with bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to departed souls

A.Mir also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation and termed it as utter failure of the state government on  “all fronts, which has even failed to ensure protection to  Yatries coming from different parts of the country for yearly Amarnath pilgrimage.’’

 A condolence meeting held today in Srinagar in which Congress expressed deep shock over the loss of lives and condemned the attack in a strongest words. The meeting was presided over by MLC Vice President Gulam Nabi Monga and attended by Senior Leaders and Legislator.

The Party leaders while expressing solidarity with the bereaved families described the attack as a “deliberate attempt to harm the age-old tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood in the state.’’

Stating that the Govt has failed to ensure adequate Security to yatris coming to perform yearly pilgrimage, Congress leaders urged upon the government to ascertain the identity of “killers for severe punishment and emphasized that security for yatries must be beefed up in order to ensure their safety.’’

Congress leaders while offering heartfelt condolences to bereaved families, sympathized with them and prayed for   eternal peace to departed souls.

 Those who attended the condolence meeting included Legislators   Usman Majeed, Mohd Muzaffar Parray, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd Amin Bhat, Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, General Secretaries, Secretaries and other Senior Leaders.
