Clashes erupt in Nowhatta as forces teargas Sajid’s funeral procession
Clashes have erupted between government forces and youth in Nowhatta area of old city, witnesses said.
Forces resorted to smoke shelling on the funeral procession of Hizb militant Sajid Ahmad Gilkar in Nowhatta.
During the clashes , several mourners were injured in force’s action.
According to the witnesses, Sajid’s body was being taken to Jamia masjid for funeral prayers when forces resorted to tear smoke shelling on mourners who were raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
A lensman from a local daily, was also hit by pellets while covering the militant’s funeral in Downtown Srinagar.
Gilkar was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with government forces in Radbugh village of Magam area in Budgam district.
