Sandeep Kumar, a close aide of Bashir Lashkari, arrested in Kashmir: IGP

Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have arrested a non–local who they believe to be working for Lashkar e-Toiba outfit and close aide of slain commander Bashir Lashkari in Kashmir valley.

 “We have apprehended Sandeep, he is originally a resident of UP,” Inspector General of Police, Munir Khan said during a press conference here in Srinagar.

He said that the militants of Lashkar took help of Sandeep to loot ATMs.

Police said that Sandeep Sharma was in the same house where Lashkar commander Bashir Lashkari was killed.

“He(Sandeep) was a criminal, he got in touch with Lashkar through one Shakoor of Sopore,” Khan said. Police said that Sandeep Sharma, son of Ram Sharma is a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said that the apprehended person used two identities. “To the locals, he(Sandeep) used the name Adil, who lived with two identities,” He added.

According to the press statement issued by police, Sharma was involved in the attack on Army convoy at Lower Munda Qazigund on June 3, 2017. He was also involved in a weapon snatching incident at the residence of Justice Attar in Anchidoora village of south Kashmir on 13 June 2017.

Police said that the arrested person was involved in the attack on a police party in Achabal in which six policemen were killed.

Police said that he along with his associates was also involved in a number of ATM Loots in Mominabad Ashajipora,  K.P Road G.B Stand Anantnag, Larkipra SBI ATM, Achabal Adda (SBI ATM), Zirpora Bijbehara (SBI ATM).
