One killed, 24 injured in Kathua

One person was killed and 24 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into the deep gorge in Khanera area of district Kathua on Saturday.

A police official said that 3 passengers were rushed to GMC Jammu and other 21 were shifted to District Hospital Kuthua.

The vehicle bearing registration number JK02AG-4479 was on its way to Hatli from Kathua, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a gorge near Khanyara area, resulting in on spot death of conductor and injuries to 35 others.

The body of the deceased identified as Kashmir Singh has been shifted to mortuary of District Hospital for postmortem.

A case under Sections 279 and 304 RPC has been registered at Lakhanpur police station and hunt has been launched to arrest the driver, who managed to escape from the spot.
