1 heart surgery, 21 knee replaced during Kargil medical camp

A free medical check-up camp was organized by LAHDC Kargil, AIIMS and Ashoka Mission New Delhi in which one cardiac surgery and 21 knee replacements were done and over 4000 patients were given free check-up.

According to an estimate, over Rs 5 crore was saved if the same treatment and operation was done in AIIMS New Delhi instead of the camp.

The camp concluded with a tea party organised by Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan at his residence in which the team of specialist doctors from AIIMS Delhi-led by president Ashoka Mission Ven Dalia Lama, executive councillors, ex-MP Ladakh, Ghulam Hassan Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SSP Kargil, doctors from district hospital and district officers were present.

On this occasion, renowned cardiologist Prof Rama Krishanan said that it was a pleasure to serve the people at their door step and by creating history by performing Kargil’s first cardiac surgery on a five-year-old child. He said that it gave him a pleasure with a divine feel. He appreciated the efforts of the Health Department – be it the doctors, paramedics or support staff that gave him the courage to perform such a difficult surgery.

Ven lama Lobzang assured CEC LAHDC Kargil that the doctors will visit again next year and will organise a much more planned camp in Kargil and promised any kind of help to Kargil patients in Delhi.

Thanking the efforts of the specialist doctors, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan said that people of Kargil can only give prayers for the expert services.

He assured all possible help and asked for increasing the number of days for which the camp would be held.

The doctors who participated in the camp included Prof Dr Chander Shekhar Yadav orthopedics, Prof Dr Rama Krishna cardiologist, Prof Dr Machine Talvar cardio surgeon, Prof Dr Rajesh Khadgwat endocrinologist, Prof Dr Garima Kachawa gynaecologist, Prof Dr Acha Kr. Srivastava neurologist, Dr Rohit Verma psychiatrist, Dr Amit Roy orthopedics, Dr Ujjwal Monica gastroentrologist and Dr Raha Amritsar senior resident ortho.
